The Story I Never Planned to Tell is an unforgettable memoir of war, revolution, exile, and the long road toward rebuilding a life.
Born into a period of upheaval in Iran, Youness Farokhrani grew up believing in honor, duty, and the promise of a better future. But when revolution swept the country, everything changed. He became a soldier, then a survivor—witnessing events no young man should ever have to see.
From the chaos of the Iran-Iraq War to the dangers of fleeing his homeland, from building a new life in America to facing unexpected heartbreak within his own family, Farokhrani’s journey is as inspiring as it is heartbreaking.
Told with honesty, humility, and deep humanity, this memoir shows that life’s greatest battles are not always fought on the front lines—and that strength is sometimes measured not by victory, but by the courage to move forward.
